使用Sun Identity Manager来实现多种系统上的统一用户身份管理
给自己的文章作个广告：“在日益复杂的企业计算环境中，管理员可能会需要为单个用户在不同的企业计算资源上创建不同的帐号，这样就使得用户身份管理更为复杂。Sun Identity Manager使用虚拟帐户的方法来解决这个问题。针对每个用户在不同系统中的多个帐号，Identity Manager 会创建单个虚拟帐户，并将这个虚拟帐户映射到各个不同的系统，建立对应的用户帐号。管理员所看到的只是单一的用户虚拟帐户，只对单个实体进行管理。”

2006年度，Sun公司成为唯一逆市增长的服务器厂家
根据来自IDC合Gartner的独立报告，Sun公司是2006年中，唯一逆市增长的服务器厂家。（According to separate reports from market trackers IDC and Gartner, Sun was the only top-tier vendor to gain share last year, reversing years of share losses.）
IDC和Gartner的数据非常一致，Sun公司在2006年度占据了全球服务器市场10.8%的份额。Sun公司的主要竞争对手，IBM和HP都有不同程度的下滑。

很有意思的一则新闻，不知道是不是会在明天得到验证：

Solaris on Xeons, co-engineering deal

SOURCES CLOSE to AMD Taiwan confirm that the CEOs of Sun and Intel will
announce a wide ranging deal on Monday.
Reports started emerging late last week that such a deal was on the
cards, but now it is a definite and will be a multi-year agreement
covering servers, telecom based systems and untilately workstations.
The deal will not cut out AMD from the equation, but it looks as if the
smaller chip company will have to do more if it wants to keep Sun on
board.
It also appears that the first products, using Solaris, will appear in
the middle of next year, with Sun and Intel collaborating on
validation, design and engineering in the future. No-one from any of
the companies was available for comment at press time.
Those with long memories will remember that Intel and Sun fell out many
years ago over the future of the Itanium processor, with then senior VP
Paul Otellini cross over Scott McNealy's intransigence to port Solaris
to that microprocessor. But things have changed. In the last year, CEO
of Intel Paul Otellini has got Apple on board, Dell has gone AMD, and
Scott McNealy isn't the CEO of Sun no-more.

Solaris 10 11/06版发布
Sun公司今天正式发布了Solaris 10 11/06版，提供了更大的可扩展性和更高的可靠性。
新的feature包括：
* Solaris Trusted Extensions — delivers multi-level security, trusted Java Desktop System, and secure by default networking
* Solaris Containers — containers can now be cloned, moved among file systems, and renamed
* Logical Domains (LDOMs) for CoolThreads servers — brings Sun's new server virtualization technology to UltraSPARC T1-based systems
* Improved ZFS file system, Predictive Self Healing, and Network 7 Layer cache — designed to make Web applications run faster and more reliably than ever before
